Góbéfest

Góbéfest

Góbéfest was established in 2017 to celebrate the little-known culture and traditions of the Szekler people – a group of ethnic Hungarians living in Transylvania, which is part of Romania.

A Góbé is a friendly word for a ‘crafty Székely’. With its roots firmly in Transylvania, Góbéfest will also showcase the practices and folklores of other cultures from across Europe and beyond.

Over the last 8 years, Góbéfest has grown to become an international folk and culture festival, drawing from across the Carpathian Basin, Eastern and Central Europe and beyond.

Main stage acts promise to draw from across the Carpathian Basin, Eastern & Central Europe and beyond. Expect to hear a rich variety of live music from traditional folk to contemporary, ska folk, electric folk, authentic gypsy music, classical sounds, jazz and more.

In the family tent you can expect music, arts and crafts workshops for all ages.
Visitors to the festival will be able to taste a range of delicacies and delights, such as Lángos, Kürtőskalács, Pálinka whilst admiring an array of arts and gift stalls.

There will be music from Hungarian folk singers Márta Sebestyén, Judit Andrejszki & Béla Szerényi Jr + Hungarian Gypsy band Parno Graszt + Transylvanian Ethno Indie Pop and Balkan Funk & Soul Fusion group Koszika & The Hotshots + Jewish Eastern European, Turkish and the Balkans Yiddish seven-piece She’Koyokh +.Manchester folk singer-songwriter Izzie Walsh.
