May Sunday Coffee Concert
Welcome to the 11th season of Coffee Concerts, with members of the Hall?, at Spring Bank Arts. We?re delighted to welcome back many familiar faces, and some new players with a series of three concerts of music ranging from Mozart through to great 20th century masterpieces.
The final concert this year on May12th is also a French programme. Two great works for piano trio will be performed by Caroline Pether, Dale Culliford and Paul Janes. The beautiful lyrical piano trio by Faur? was one of his last works, written at a time when he was struggling with failing health, yet burgeoning creativity. Ravel?s famous piano trio, written in 1914, is a wonderfully colouristic and virtuosic work exploring folk melodies from the composer?s native Basque region, Malaysian verse forms, a baroque Passacaglia and a finale of sweeping grandeur and rhythmic complexity.
The piano is supplied by Shackleford Pianos of Macclesfield and kindly sponsored by Chafes Hague Lambert Solicitors.
Performed by:
Caroline Pether - violin
Dale Culliford - cello
Paul Janes - piano
