Picnic spaces are on the grass and you can bring

need will be there, food, drink, blankets –

Much
Ado About Nothing (15th July –
8th August 2010) By William Shakespeare. Directed
by Edward Dick. Join
us for an evening of merriment, fun and laughter
when the beautiful gardens of Grosvenor Park
come alive with one of Shakespeare’s most
popular comedies Much Ado About Nothing. Starring
Eastender’s Liam Bergin
(Danny Mitchell) as Claudio and Jake
Maskall (Danny Moon) as Don Juan and
The Bill and Holby City’s Thusitha
Jayasundera as Beatrice, plus many
more stars of stage and screen. Masquerade balls,
plotters in disguise, jilted brides and mistaken
intentions make up one of the Bard’s best
loved and funniest plays - and the perfect end
to a balmy summer’s eve.
Hercules
(20th July – 5th August 2010) A riotous
romp for all ages 7+. A new play by Helen Eastman.
Directed by Alex Clifton. To do: 1.
slay lion, 2. avoid queen of Amazons, 3. clean
stables, 4. cheat death (again)… Hercules
is not having a good day. If only his father,
Zeus could see beyond his earthly shortcomings…
Not the most organised of super heroes and a
bit of a disaster zone, our Hercules is a powerful
force of nature. He doesn’t know his own
strength, but maybe that’s what makes
him (half) human after all. A uproarious adventure
through Hercules’ loves
and labours – monsters, magicians, music
and mayhem – a carnival for all the family.
Both
productions are simply staged and beautiful
to look at, highly physical and suitable for
all ages. Even if your children are too young
for Shakespeare, they’ll certainly love
the hero Hercules…
All
evening performances start at 7.30pm and the
theatre's always opens an hour prior for early
picnickers – although you can eat and
drink during performances – in fact it’s
encouraged! Matinees start at 2pm on Thursdays
and Saturdays and the tea time special on a
Sunday starts at 5pm.
Grosvenor
Park is located in the heart of Chester city
centre. There are 2 major car parks, located
within a short walking distance. Local, regional
and national train services all run from Chester
Station, which is a 15 minute walk away.
The
offer only applies for the productions taking
place at Grosvenor Park, Chester
