John Haycock & DBH
Two of Todmorden's finest artists team up for a celestial exploration between light, sound and setting with live music, visuals and talks in a sensory exploration of the historic building.
John Haycock (Kora, Clarinet + electronics) and DBH (Fiddle, guitar) perform the commissioned piece, ‘resonance’ for this unique multi-sensory event.
Blending the practices of Pauline Oliveros’s, Deep Listening and the history of the local area's most notable buildings, these happenings use the natural reverberations of the environment and their acoustic architecture.
Combined with crystal lighting effects and hand-crafted cymatic projections which develop live feedback from the musicians to fill these spaces with audio and visual vibrations at all levels of the electromagnetic spectrum (and perhaps beyond what is commonly thought of) into a multi-dimensional experience.
Together with local folklore, legend, and community stories, they curate exciting, impactful happenings.
A live show that utilises the unique atmosphere of this superb historical setting to make a memorable evening of music and refracted projections, history, literature and folklore within the space and transform it into a living experience of light and sound.
Support from Alison Cooper (voice, electronics).
