King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

From lo-fi garage/surf-rock to thrash metal, Stu Mackenzie's Australian psychedelic rock band have morphed into a prolific, constantly-evolving group, releasing over 48 albums between September 2012 and June 2023, seventeen of which entered the Australian Top 10 charts.

With lyrics inspired by environmental themes, many of the band's releases are based on a unique concept, yet share lyrical themes and feature characters that form a recurring cast, the most frequent being Han-Tyumi, a cyborg character who appears across multiple albums. Their songs also tell stories of people-vultures, bushrangers  and Balrogs, as well as "lightning gods, flesh-eating beasts, sages and space-faring eco rebels."
