RELAXED PERFORMANCE of The Worst Witch

WHAT IS A RELAXED PERFORMANCE? If you are a parent, guardian, or work with people with learning or sensory disabilities ? such as those on the autism spectrum ? you?ll know how difficult it can sometimes be for them to attend regular theatre performances; loud noises, lighting effects and large crowds can make stage shows overwhelming. At Altrincham Garrick Playhouse, we believe that everyone should be able to experience the magic and wonder of live theatre, and so we are proud to be producing a Relaxed Performance for THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHT-TIME which will deliver the same theatrical experience but with an atmosphere and attitude in the auditorium that makes everyone feel comfortable and safe. Relaxed Performances are open to anyone who would benefit from a more relaxed performance environment. This may include children, young people and adults with neurodivergence such as autism, learning disabilities and other sensory or communication needs. WHAT TO EXPECT FROM OUR RELAXED PERFORMANCE: A number of adaptations will be made to the show to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable environment for everyone. These include: - Come and go from the auditorium as you wish, even during the show. - Express yourself as loudly as you like, or with physical movement, without judgement. - Access the Theatre and auditorium early. - Extra Staff on hand to support audiences during their time with us. - A quiet breakout space available before, during and after the performance. - Changes to the production?s lighting and sound including reducing the sound levels and removing any lighting that could be overpowering to lessen sensory overload. There?ll be no loud bangs during the performance. - Auditorium lighting will remain on throughout the performance. - Elements of surprise will be reduced.
