RNCM Day of Percussion: Victor Mendoza

Vibraphonist and composer Victor Mendoza, a Mexico native, is a leading international artist in the Latin jazz and world percussion spheres. This session as part of the annual RNCM Day of Percussion, which returns in 2023 for its 30^th year, focuses on expanding the creative palette, a look at alternative practice approaches for developing improvisation and performance vocabulary in mallet performance.

This will include an overview of modal and rhythmic examples as found in Latin jazz, Brazilian and Mediterranean music. Participation is encouraged!

Internationally recognised performers and practitioners will present a day packed full of exciting and informative sessions to inspire both newer learners and more experienced players. From orchestral percussion to session drum kits and everything in between, all percussion techniques and instruments are covered.
