It’s 1995, and Santa Monica is bright and beautiful. However, everyone’s favourite lifeguard Pam, like a prawn or dolphin, a princess of the surf, is hooked, flown and plopped upon the promenade of ‘Spray’ – a grey and wet miserable 90’s town. The promise of a promotion to ‘manager of a beach’ soon becomes the harsh reality of cultural differences and approaches to everything from swimming, to recreation. (Pork scratchings). As a dark and sinister underbelly begins to emerge, Pam must confront her own ideas about positivity and beauty to save others and herself, or y’know, maybe she won’t. Perhaps she’s fine as she is, and is absolutely not heading for an iceberg. This is a darkly comic, alternative musical. A stand-up read-through/sing-through that will have you laughing and crying. Adults only; expect something between Barbie, Book of Mormon, and Elbow.
