Séamus Óg

Séamus Óg

Manchester based Séamus Óg is an emerging force within the contemporary folk scene, drawing deeply from his family’s rich musical heritage and strong Irish roots.

Raised in a Belfast household where music was as essential as the air they breathed, Séamus’s songs are a tapestry of stories, traditions, and connections to home.

His 2018 debut album, Best Masala Tea, offered an intimate, raw sound, just guitar, double bass, and his voice. Praised on the acclaimed podcast Tangentially Speaking by Dr. Christopher Ryan, the album’s stripped-back simplicity highlighted Séamus’s ability to channel both his heritage and his own deeply personal experiences solo-travelling India.

With Terry’s Síbín (2022), Séamus expanded his palette, capturing the energy of family gatherings and the timeless spirit of Irish folk. The album earned airplay on BBC 6 Music (Tom Robinson), Celtic FM, and Radio Fáilte, and his powerful live performances have seen him share stages and support artists like Chris Brain, Brìghde Chaimbeul, Ríoghnach Connolly & Honeyfeet, and Mikey Kenney.

Teaming with Andy Patterson (double bass), Awen Blandford (cello) and Anna McLuckie (harp) their music is intertwined in rich harmonies, and stories full of heart.

For Séamus, music is a bridge between past and present, family and audience, tradition and innovation. His songs steeped in vivid imagery and the unshakeable sense of belonging that only home can provide.
