When great British pop institution, The Beautiful South split in 2007, some members of the band didn’t feel ready to hang up their microphones or instruments just yet…

Founder and vocalist Dave Hemingway, together with lifelong sax player Gaz Birtles and singer Alison Wheeler - who had replaced Jacqui Abbot in 2003 for the band's three final albums - reappeared from the ashes, as The South.

Although Dave left the band for his own solo Sunbird project, in 2017, Alison and Gaz continue to perform as The South, a nine piece live band who bring back the full flavour and excitement of The Beautiful South, performing the classic songs A Little Time, Perfect 10, Rotterdam, Old Red Eyes Is Back, Good as Gold, Don't Marry Her and many more, spanning an impressive 20 year career starting way back in 1989.

The South are: Alison Wheeler (Vocals), Gaz Birtles (Vocals), Phil Barton (Guitars), Steve Nutter (Bass), Dave Anderson (Drums), Karl Brown (Percussion), Gareth John (Trumpet), Su Robinson (Sax), Andy Price (Keys).
