While musical trends have come and gone since Clutch originally formed in Maryland, USA in 1991, they've always thrived by just sitting back and doing their own thing.
Coming from American punk and hardcore influenced roots, they moved more towards a bluesy, stoner rock vibe, scoring two UK Top 20 albums along the way. With the ability to rock out as hard as possible without overthinking things too much, they operate inside their own little corner of the musical world, making a reputation for themselves based on solid songwriting, lyrical weirdness, and quality with a little of that good old Southern swing in their songs, even when they deliver the more straight-ahead rockers alongside their bluesy slow jammers and soulful experimentations.
