Limp Bizkit

Led by inimitable musician, actor and filmmaker Fred Durst, the multi platinum-selling band Limp Bizkit are widely credited with giving birth to nu metal by merging rap and hardcore rock.

Formed in 1994 and hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, the group went through numerous line-up changes over their first 25 years, but have since returned to the classic 1996 configuration made up of Durst on vocals, Wes Borland on guitar, Sam Rivers on bass and John Otto on drums – with DJ Lethal often joining behind the deck.

Best known for their abrasive lyrics, torrent of riffs and explosive outbursts, Durst picked the name Limp Bizkit because he wanted to repel listeners. The band released their debut album Three Dollar Bill Y’All produced by Ross Robinson (Korn, Slipknot) in 1995 and grew a cult following thanks to cover renditions of George Michael’s Faith and Paul Abdul’s Straight Up.

In 1999, Limp Bizkit unveiled its sophomore album Significant Other, which not only spawned a couple of their most popular singles (Nookie and Break Stuff), but also launched them into the mainstream rock spotlight.

The arrival of their third album, Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavoured Water, in 2000 turned the band into international stars. Both the album and the single Rollin’ topped the official UK charts. Three more songs – My Generation, My Way and Boiler – also broke into the top 20. In 2001, Limp Bizkit were nominated for three Grammys and won three MTV Europe Music Awards including Best Group and Best Album. A remix of Rollin’ also appeared that year on the soundtrack of the film The Fast And The Furious.

Following the temporary departure of Borland, Limp Bizkit released the No.7-charting album Results May Vary in 2003. Borland returned for the recording of the 2005 EP The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1), but the whole band decided to go on hiatus in 2006 after its lacklustre reception.

Limp Bizkit returned to the music scene in 2009, launching the Unicorns N’ Rainbows Tour. They also began recording their sixth album Gold Cobra, which was released in 2011 and followed by another worldwide tour.

In the mid ’10s, Limp Bizkit started working on their seventh album Stampede Of The Disco Elephants. Amid issues while changing labels, they released tracks like Lightz, Ready To Go featuring Lil Wayne, Endless Slaughter and a cover of Ministry’s Thieves, but the album has remained in development with no firm arrival date set.

In June 2021, Limp Bizkit announced a pair of UK dates in Manchester and London for July 2022.
