Selling out some of Manchester's biggest venues long before they had even released a record, Starsailor burst onto the scene in 2001 when their single "Fever" earning them the title of "Britain's best new band".

Formed at Wigan & Leigh Music College by music students James Walsh, James Stelfox and Ben Byrne, later adding keyboardist Barry Westhead, who cemented their sound, their Platinum-selling debut album Love Is Here, featuring the Top 10 single Alcoholic, reached no.2 in the UK Album Charts in October 2001, going on to sell over half a million copies in the UK alone and including other Top 40 hits, "Good Souls", "Fever", "Poor Misguided Fool" and "Lullaby".

Their second album, "Silence is Easy" also reached UK no.2 in 2003 and spawned the UK Top 10 single "Silence Is Easy," and their biggest International hit, "Four to The Floor", which topped the charts in Belgium and France.

While less commercially successful, their following three albums all reached the UK Top 30 and delivered other Top 40 hits, while, alongside his performances in the band, James Walsh has proven his own worth as a solo singer-songwriter in his own right, writing songs for Eliza Doolittle, Melanie C, Suzanne Vega, Professor Green, and Matt Cardle, to name a few.
